500 unit Build-to-Rent scheme in Salford achieves planning permission

Planning permission has been achieved for Darling Associates’ latest residential scheme in Salford.

Working with Eutopia Homes, Darling Associates have designed an exemplary new residential development at 319 & 321 Ordsall Lane that will deliver provide 500 residential units in an excellent waterside location between south west Manchester and Salford Quays. The proposals have been described by Council officers in the committee report as “a high quality designed and landscaped scheme.”

After many months of positive dialogue with the Council and local consultation activity, including the holding of two public events, officers have recommended approval of this brownfield regeneration scheme within the Riverside Living Character Area of the Ordsall Riverside Corridor.

Consisting of studios, 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bed apartments, the scheme is intended to attract a varied demographic to the development, creating a true mixed-tenure community in Salford by offering a high-quality residential product attractive to all. Taller elements of the scheme front the river and are strategically positioned to south of the site to take advantage of the surrounding views.

The estimated investment associated with the project is £56.9 million. Some 628 new construction jobs will be created as well as the injection of an estimated additional annual consumer spend of £13.0 million.
