Urban Splash competition for proposals to regenerate a derelict pier of Weston-super-Mare.

Darling Associates proposed a development of 50 sea view apartments cut into the hillside overlooking the pier, which fronted the funding for renovating the pier to its original splendor and for a new spa retreat built on the end of the headland. The main building provides a new public park on the roof, with a series of treatment rooms and therapy pools below, looking out into the severn estuary. Linked accommodation pods drift from the building, accessible by walkways, which provide different experience and levels of seclusion.
