UAE Masterplan

Darling Associates were appointed by TDIC of Abu Dhabi in 2010 to masterplan a coastal town with heritage, ferry transfer, retail and residential components.

The design response was to create a gateway public harbourside piazza as a focal point for arriving visitors enclosed by museum, ferry transfer building and retail with two avenues leading landwards and forming a retail circuit. All buildings are three storeys or less and their design incorporates an Estidama 3 Pearls rating.

Masterplanning forms an increasing part of the practice’s commissions.
