Lood graduated in architecture from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1996. He worked for a medium sized practice in Pretoria on mainly private residential projects before relocating to London, where he joined Hamilton Associates in 1997. At Hamiltons, Lood designed a variety of buildings including industrial, residential, office and mixed use. Most prominently he was involved in No. 1 Plough Place, a six storey city office block, and a £3.5m speculative office building for Welbeck Land in Fleet. He also saw through to completion an industrial scheme for Chancerygate in Langley and obtained planning permission for a new £6m office building at 111 Cannon Street. Lood co-founded Darling Associates with Chris Darling in March 2003. As Systems Director he is responsible for all the office systems including IT and premises, along with his project responsibilities. Completed projects include 100,000 sq ft of light industrial units at Guildford, 57 flats for George Wimpey in Brighton and smaller residential schemes in Balham and Kilburn. Currently on site are two city office refurbishment and extension projects, a residential project in Shoreditch and a large business park in Bucks. Lood has also been responsible for quality monitoring of two major luxury residential projects in London in conjunction with the project managers. |
