Richard qualified from UCL in 1983 and joined Lifshutz Davidson in 1987, working on the competition winning schemes for the Oxo Tower mixed use scheme and Coin Street housing.

Leaving after six years, Richard worked in Singapore for 3 years, completing an HQ building for Ceylinco Bank in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and a 33-storey tower of serviced apartments for Ascott in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Returning to the UK in 1996, Richard joined Novo Architects and worked in collaboration with Koetter Kim on Riverside Canary Wharf, a development of 310 apartments, 150-room hotel and health club and pool.

Richard joined Hamilton Associates in 1999, and has been involved in several large residential and mixed use schemes, including a 150 room international Business Centre in Heathrow, a 200 apartment development at Kew Bridge, and 150,000 sq ft office development at Tottenham Court Road. After joining Darling Associates in 2004, Richard has worked on a 250 unit residential and transport integrated scheme in Sutton, as well as several mixed use and office developments.
