In the heart of the city, Bristol Temple Quarter has been developed to drive local growth and is the home to rapidly growing businesses, specifically in the digital, tech and legal sectors, with a number of prestigious companies relocating to the area.
The elegant building features shimmering glass facades which reference the site’s historic use as a glass-works. The floor to ceiling glazing and frame-less glass balustrades maximise the panoramic views, with balconies providing solar shading.
A harmony is generated with the surrounding buildings and is appropriate to the riverside context. A landscaped public space addressing the river frontage, to provide a spill out space from the main pedestrian route along the river. Utilising a brownfield site, this exemplar design provides a dynamic retail and commercial development that targets high sustainability standards and a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
3 Glass Wharf is one of two sites on which Darling Associates is designing for the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.
