An office refurbishment comprised of contemporary brick piers, located in central Richmond spanning 44,000 sqft.
Explore is a workplace building and sits within the town centre of the green and spacious, conservation area of Richmond.
Upon the design inception, the DA team identified unforgiving aspects of the existing building; an entrance that lacked definition, monolithic massing, little articulation, and an absence of nature. So, the approach was simple. The proposal detailed a design to make positive contributions, a building that is better placed within its local context, more energy efficient and a workplace that encourages wellbeing, one that is accessible for all.

Capitalising on the sunny, south-westerly aspect, the landscape vision for Explore infuses existing vines on site with forms found within southern vineyards as well as taking inspiration from one of London’s most established botanical area, Kew Gardens. The private office terrace, and outdoor dining courtyard plus street level tree planting are all keys areas that contribute to a great enhancement of biodiversity.
