This year’s summer party was hosted in the fine Portuguese capital city of Lisbon; an eclectic commingle of maritime charm, azulejo-wrapped buildings and inter-twinning back alleys laid like a blanket across a tumbling hilly backdrop.
It made an ideal destination for a Darling Associates summer party, offering a fascinating history, a wide range of architectural interest and a thriving contemporary culture. It was also the nearest city to Vila De Maria, one of our recently completed projects located just outside the city in the beautiful national park of Sintra.
Based in the Campo Pequeno district, the weekend saw us embrace Portuguese culture through food, drink and fado, the expressive and melancholic singing style often heard percolating out of the bars and taverns into the warm evenings. We also took the opportunity to throw ourselves into the fresh Altantic ocean to catch some surf on Guincho Beach. We visited Vila De Maria and were lucky enough to be hosted by the new owners of the house, who graciously threw an excellent party for us, one that will mingle in the memory for a long time.
